The Marvelous Medium of Masking Tape Workshop!

Learn how to create props, masks, puppets, and more using everyday materials like masking tape, foil, paint, and a whole lot of imagination from a master fabricator and puppeteer!

$25 for Museum members / $30 non-members

Ages 13-17 are welcome to purchase a spot, but must attend with an adult participant.

Register early as we only have seats for 30 participants.

Workshop led by our very special guest, Matt McGee: award-winning actor, artist, designer, puppeteer, consultant, and past teacher at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, Fresno State, Arizona State University, and the Smithsonian Institute summer camp program. He also created a virtual workshop and designed puppets for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, was Director of Fabrication at the Great Arizona Puppet Theater, and is a four-time Jim Henson Foundation Grant recipient!

Matt grew up in Hanford and attended Fresno State before moving to Washington, D.C. for an Acting Fellowship with the Shakespeare Theatre Company. After almost 10 years working in theatre there, he moved back to the Valley, then to Arizona, where he currently resides. Back in 2011, Matt taught a puppetry workshop for kids at FAM, and he’s now coming back to spread his magic once again!

This hands-on session is designed for all skill levels and focuses on simple techniques that bring ideas into three dimensions. If you love making things or want to try something totally new, this workshop is for you!
