I was raised in an era where children spent a lot of time outdoors and, consequently, grew up appreciating so many details in nature.
Nature has its own rhythms, and when we sit still long enough to notice, it brings such effervescent joy and peace--the soul sense of connectedness to that which is greater than our comparatively insignificant worldliness—a spiritual dimension that empowers us through a sense of oneness with the Divine.
I have found this sense of oneness kayaking on Huntington Lake in the early morning hours while the water’s surface is at its reflective best. Years ago I began taking my camera to catch much of this stillness and beauty, which I now share with you. My approach is unique. I chose to photograph this beauty reflected on the still water’s surface.
Nearly every summer for my entire life I have spent summers at Huntington Lake, my spiritual home. It is time to honor this special place with photographs I took several years ago, along with my intimate feelings during early mornings kayaking along its shores for over 20 years.
