Once a pear is harvested from it's branch, it can ripen to it's fullest potential to be deliciously enjoyed. This beloved fruit is actually part of the rose family, and is very versatile as it's used in many popular recipes and desserts. Unlike some other fruit, the pear usually keeps it same golden hue during ripening, though it may change ever so slightly. It was considered a sacred fruit in Greek mythology and is even a symbol of immortality in China.
